Mr. Sun specializes in patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling, with a particular focus on inventions in the computer field.  Mr. Sun has expertise in a number of subject areas including computer architecture, storage systems, software development, cloud computing systems, databases, computer networks, telecommunications, Internet applications, e-commerce systems, and computer learning.  His clients include some of the world’s largest technology companies.

Earlier in his legal career, Mr. Sun was a patent litigator.  He has worked on numerous patent cases in federal court as counsel for both plaintiff and defendant.  His broad litigation experience includes developing case strategies, drafting case dispositive briefs, arguing motions in court, taking and defending depositions, drafting expert reports and conducting expert discovery, and negotiating case settlements.  Mr. Sun also has experience conducting patent portfolio analysis and diligence on patent-related transactions.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sun worked as a systems analyst at Exxon Mobil Corporation, where he designed and developed proprietary software and database systems.  He was part of a team that traveled around the world to consolidate the company’s computing systems following Exxon’s merger with Mobil in 1999.
