Shareholder Rory D. Rankin
Rory D. Rankin specializes in intellectual property matters with an emphasis in patent and trademark procurement and counseling. Areas of concentration include prosecution and counseling in the electrical arts, including computer system architecture and design, microprocessor architecture, network and communication systems, integrated circuits, distributed computing, interactive video distribution systems, computer software, and patent infringement analysis and related opinions.
Mr. Rankin received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Computer Science from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1989. Subsequently, Mr. Rankin earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. While an undergraduate, Mr. Rankin served as president of Upsilon Pi Epsilon Computer Science Honor Society, Vice President of the Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, and was a member of numerous honor societies. In 1992, Mr. Rankin received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
While employed as an engineer, Mr. Rankin worked for IBM in the Personal Systems Division, and for Motorola at the Somerset Design Center - the IBM, Motorola, and Apple Alliance - where he worked on integrated processor development and chip set design. Mr. Rankin has counseled on the procurement and protection of both patents and trademarks in numerous countries around the world.
Mr. Rankin is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Texas State Courts.
